Thursday 8/23/2007 The Fair opened under overcast skies which threatened rain with a very occasional sprinkle. The temperature was warm and pleasing to enjoy the fair in a short sleave shirt from beginning to end. It was only after the gates closed at 10:30 that a light rain began to fall. A massive crowd attended the fair, and made parking at this year's fair a bit of an issue, as some fairgoers had to park in the demolition derby pit area. Events held on Thursday were the WYRY derby ticket give aways, Truck Pull, and the Talent Show.
Friday 8/24/2007 The fair opened with clear skies, hot temperatures in the 80's, and full exhibit halls. In addition to the school cafeteria; 1/2 of the gymnasium was filled with exhibits, fair memorabilia, and all 56 of the smaller baby bears, painted by local school children. A lighter crowd attended the fair, which led to the enjoyment of short lines on the midway. Governor James Douglas paid a visit to our Fair around 6:30 PM and took stroll along the midway to visit with folks at the fair. Events held on Friday were the Ox Pull, and Cribbage/Checkers Tournaments.
Saturday 8/25/2007 The Fair opened under hazy, partly cloudy skies and hot, humid weather which reached into the mid 90's by early afternoon. A heavy crowd of people braved the heat to enjoy the fair in the morning. Many took a recess from the fair in the early afternoon to find a place to swim or stay cool, and returned later in the afternoon to take advantage of the second Bracelet Frenzy from 3-7. The fair was still going strong until about 7:30 when the threat of heavy, violent thunderstorms brought an early close to the rides and midway. All scheduled events were brought to completion despite the early closing on Saturday. Events held on Saturday were the Horse Show, Horse Draw/Pull, Exhibit Halls, Cattle Judging, Children's Old Fashioned Games, Pie Eating Contest, and Saw Contest.
Sunday 8/26/2007 The Fair opened under partly cloudy skies, warm temperatures which climbed as the day progressed to the point of being Hot once again in the upper 80's. Appropriate weather allowed for a crowd attended the fair, and watch the Demolition Derby. A lesser number of cars took part in the derby than in prior years, which made for the event to move right along. There were two injuries during the 6 & 8 cylinder car qualifying heats. The first was a potential neck injury to a driver hit from behind while least expecting it. He was brought to the hospital by ambulance as a precautionary measure, his family reported later that day that he was fine. In the next heat, after being disqualified, a driver lost his temper and punched his hand through the windshield of his car, creating a life threating laceration on his wrist. He too, was transferred to the Hospital by ambulance. This caused a delay in the event as another ambulance was not on site. This allowed families to take a break and take a few rides on the midway before returning to the action of the demolition derby. The derby ended at about 4:30 PM.
